Matt has worked as an entrepreneur, consultant, and edtech product developer for over 20 years. He has served in roles including classroom teacher, district technology director, professional development specialist and innovation designer. Matt brings a unique set of skills and experience to help lead the exceptional team at Skills21. Matt lives in western Massachusetts with his kids where he enjoys making lots of music.
Debbie has worked with EdAdvance for 10 years an has been a critical member of the Skills21 team for 5 years. Debbie manages accounting at Skills21 and loves the variety in her job. Each day brings something new whether it is maintaining budgets, organizing contracts, or planning large events like Expo Fest.
Cameron received her B.S. in Mass Media Communications from Castleton State College, it was there she found her love for film making and continued to receive an M.F.A. in Film and Television Producing at Chapman University in Orange, California. When she moved back to Connecticut and joined the world of education she found her producing skills made her a perfect candidate for organizing student events. Cameron is the Executive Producer ofExpo Fest for Skills21 and when she isn't busy making spreadsheets you can find her on hiking/biking trails, at the movies or seeing live music.
Susan spent her early career in the pharmaceutical industry transitioning into roles of district manager and regional sales trainer being the recipient of national awards. Susan’s love of mentoring and teaching motivated her to pursue a teaching career and later non-profit development. She joins Skills21 with a varied background spreading the word of the awesomeness of Skills21 and the programs they offer. Susan lives in Litchfield with her husband, frequently traveling to Utah visiting her children taking in the amazing wild west.
Liz joins the Skills21 team after teaching math and special education for over fifteen years in Camden, NJ and Connecticut. She has a passion for working with students that learn differently and for using social justice focused lessons in the classroom. After spending 8 months in Finland as a Fulbright Distinguished Teacher she decided to move out of the classroom and into a position where she could do research, connect with more teachers and students, and bring challenge based, hands-on learning to more students in Connecticut. She is excited to continue her work with high school students and is inspired by the projects students bring to Expo Fest. Liz lives in New Milford, CT with her husband and two daughters.
Gary is a brand new Skills21 Coach where he will be engaging and coaching Expo Fest teams who compete under our Entrepreneurship, Technology and Computer Science challenges. Gary joins Skills21 after spending four-plus years working in collegiate athletics. He earned his M.B.A in Marketing at UMass Dartmouth and his B.A. in Professional Writing at Western Connecticut State University. He lives in Torrington, CT, where he enjoys hiking, attending MLB games and playing men’s league basketball.
Michael is also a new Skills21 Coach working with teams competing in NGSS, Middle School, Engineering and Health!
Michael's diverse and experienced career background includes social services, education, and client/employee support. Prior to joining the Skills21 team, Michael served EdAdvance as a Behavioral Intervention Specialist in its Access North Program. Previous positions include Account Manager and Work-Life Specialist specializing in client/employee EAP support, Program Assistant to both a crisis stabilization program for at risk youth and teen substance abuse residential treatment program, and an Educator of primary and middle school students. Michael holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from Wesleyan University.
Kerry holds a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology. Prior to joining the Skills21 team as a science program manager, Kerry was an instructor and curriculum developer for the Bioscience Explorations Program. She particularly enjoys working with Expo teams to develop strong science and research components within their projects.
Kevin has nine years of science teaching experience in both urban and suburban school districts in Connecticut. His passion for the implementation of innovative classroom technologies led him to a job with Google where he worked to improve the feasibility of Google Apps in the classroom. Kevin currently acts as the Director for the Center for Program Research & Evaluation at EdAdvance and supports the research efforts of the Skills21 team. He is an accomplished program evaluator, excelling at quantitative and qualitative research, assessment tool generation, focus groups, STEM program evaluation, collaborative strategic change, organizational change management services, data analysis, and internal and external evaluations.
