DIGITAL MEDIA MOVIE MAKING

Digital Media Moviemaking

Digital Media and Moviemaking (DM3) introduces students to the world of digital film and video as a component of the rapidly evolving digital media industry. In the first semester of this program, students will develop and enhance academic skills, creative thinking skills, digital media literacy, and film making skills through the successful completion of individual assignments. In the second semester, students form a production company, and produce a Public Service Announcement (PSA), a CCC News Report, an Animation Short, a Documentary Short, and a Fictional Short. Each team project will target a specific audience and deliver factual information relating to climate change that will be distributed on a company Web site and uploaded to CTStudentFilms.org.

What Do You Do in DM3?

imageDM3 students will work on individual assignments at the beginning of the year. These individual assignments will provide each student with the opportunity to use multiple Web applications and resources to complete their own digital media and film productions. This individual work includes the creation of a Web page, animated company signature, company logo, silent film, public service announcement, and a news report. After the successful completion of these projects, students become part of a student production company where they will produce additional films in a project-based learning environment. Using their experience and exploration from the first semester, each student will select a position in the company that will further develop and focus specific skills and interests.
