• Gene restriction analysis
• Genetic transformation
• Gene cloning
• Protein isolation, quantification and purification

What content knowledge will students learn in the program?

• In a simulation students identify a new pharmaceutical drug
• Work to bring the new drug from bench-top to marketplace
• Learn the processes of drug discovery, production, purification and marketing
• Learn about the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) role in drug discovery, animal testing, and bioethics

• Notebook
• Pen and pencil
• Flash drive
• Lab coat (If the student does not already own one, a lab coat may be purchased from the program for an additional cost.)

• Dress code outlined in the expectations for student behavior
• Closed toed shoes are required

Who is the instructor? There are many biotech teachers out there-should be relatively easy to identify someone.
