Science Curriculum Specialist
Justine is responsible for leading the development of an interdisciplinary science sequence for the Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, including the E3, Bio21, Chem21, and Physics21 programs. She is also responsible for working with her colleagues at the Center to implement Academy programs in diverse districts across Connecticut and Massachusetts. This role includes providing professional development opportunities and instructional support for teachers in the areas of problem-based learning, fostering student inquiry, best practices, and technology integration.
Background
Since the beginning of her career in education as a science teacher at an alternative high school for ESL/ELL students in New York City, Justine has been dedicated to working within the education reform movement to improve educational opportunities for students. Prior to joining the Center, she was employed as a curriculum specialist and consultant for high school science programs and school districts across the country. In this position, she was responsible for the creation and implementation of standards-based curricula with a focus on performance assessment and project-based learning.
Justine holds a B.S. in Biology from Binghamton University and an M.S. in Education from the New School for Social Research. Currently, she is enrolled in Sacred Heart University’s Educational Administration and Leadership program.
Other Interests
As an educational leader, Justine’s goal is to be an agent of change by facilitating improvements in curriculum, instruction, and assessment. Those improvements will ensure that all students build a strong foundation of knowledge and skills that will help them to succeed in the 21st century.
